Why Repair, Rent, Reuse?
Repair
- Repairing an item may be a lot less expensive than purchasing a new one.
- Repairing may also improve the way a product performs since technology may
have improved since it was purchased.
- Repairing goods keeps them out of the landfill or incinerator and saves
the raw materials that would be needed to make and ship a new one.
Rent
- Renting an item you seldom use can save time and money.
- Renting an item once or twice means that it won't take up space in your
closet or basement.
- Renting saves you money on maintenance costs.
- Renting an item means that you are not buying a new one; saving natural
resources.
Reuse
- Reusing a good keeps it out of the waste stream and reduces the demand for
resources required to make new products.
- Used goods are usually less expensive then new ones.
- Reusing goods spurs creativity. Use your old shoes and clothes to play dress
up with your children or use old containers to store loose pencils and old
photos.
- Reusing goods by donating them helps foster community relationships and
flea markets and yard sales are a great way to meet with neighbors.
