Lycoming County, in its effort to reach "70% recycling," has established a countywide curbside pickup for all of its townships and cities, including four recycling districts within the City of Williamsport. Clear glass, brown glass, green glass, tin cans, and aluminum cans are picked up curbside two to three times a month; the specific recycling pickup days are available at www.lcrms.com/RMSWebPa.nsf/InternalRecyclingPagesAllView1/Curbside%20Collection?OpenDocument.
Each township also has a recycling drop-off center, many of which are open
24 hours a day. Directions to these drop-off centers, as well as the history
of recycling in Lycoming County, and information on wood waste and mulch recycling
can be found at the Lycoming County Resource Management Services website, www.lcrms.com/RMSWebPa.nsf/Recycling?OpenNavigator.

Union County does not offer any curbside pickup in any of its communities, but they do operate an extensive drop-off center system, with centers conveniently located to the communities of East Buffalo, Hartleton, Lewisburg, Mifflinburg, and New Berlin. The two main recycling centers are the New Berlin Recycling Center at the Borough Shed property on Water Street and the West End Recycling Center at the Transfer Station on Polly Pine Road.
All of these drop-off locations accept #1 and #2 plastics, aluminum, glass, and corrugated paper, and most also accept newsprint, magazines, and bi-metal cans. The specific materials recycled and instructions on how to prepare these items, as well as hours and locations for drop-off centers, can be found at http://dsf.seda-cog.org/union/cwp/view.asp?A=3&Q=401432.
