Recycling in the City of Lancaster
In the City of Lancaster, residents can recycle at the curbside every week simply by contacting your private waste hauler, who removes your trash. Materials collected include aluminum, steel cans, glass, newsprint, and yard waste.

Fifty out of the 72 municipalities in York County have curbside recycling programs. To find out if your municipality recycles at the curbside, visit the York County Solid Waste Authority website at www.ycswa.org. There you will find a listing of municipalities that recycle, along with a description of what materials are collected and contact information.
Residents in all of York County can take their recyclables to the York County Public Recycling Drop-off Center across the road from the County's Resource Recovery Center at 2651 Blackbridge Road in Manchester Township, York, PA.
The Public Recycling Drop-off Center is open seven days a week, during daylight hours and accepts the following materials: aluminum cans, steel/bi-metal cans, glass, #1 & #2 plastics, newspapers, and corrugated cardboard.
Composting Information
The County of York also operates a compost site, where grass and leaves from
municipalities are converted into compost and mulch. The mulch and compost is
then given away for FREE to York County residents on specific Compost Give-a-way

The City of York, the largest municipality in York County, has a curbside recycling program that collects recyclables every week at the curbside. Materials collected include aluminum, steel and bi-metal cans, clear and colored glass, newsprint, junk mail, magazines, #1 & #2 plastic bottles, and yard waste.
Residents of York must use an authorized green recycling container for curbside recycling collections and authorized yellow containers or clear bags for yard waste collection. Authorized green bins may be purchased, and yellow cans may be leased, at the Public Works Office at One Marketway West, on the 3rd floor, on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
